Special Programs
At Libby Booth, we have three special programs that support students with learning needs that cannot be met primarily in the general education classroom, including with special education resource support.
Eligibility for these special programs is determined by a team, including the child's parent(s), and students' specific needs are addressed through an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) that the team develops.
- Comprehensive Life Skills (CLS) serves students who have been identified as needing a functional curriculum. Most students in this program are eligible for special education under the category of intellectual disability. Students are supported in a classroom with a smaller student-adult ratio (currently 10-4).
- Strategies (sometimes referred to as Strats) serves students who require very unique forms of communication to support expressive, receptive, and spontaneous language, functional routines, play concepts, social skills, motor skills, and replacement behavior skills. Often, students are eligible for special education services under the category of Autism.
- Our Developmental Preschool program supports the needs of children between the ages of 3 and 5 who are impacted by developmental delay. Please see WCSD's Child Find page for more information about eligibility criteria, evaluation, and contact information.
At Libby Booth, it is important that we recognize our unique talents and abilities, especially in the different ways that we learn or the different things we like. As a school community, we take time each year during morning announcements to remember that our ROAR expectations call for us to engage with peers in an accpeting and inclusive way.
